"Treevial" Pursuit
Just for Fun!

climbing crown

Did you know...

The life of a palm tree is in its crown?

Unlike a deciduous tree, if you cut the top of a palm tree completely off, it will die.

What will be left is a dead "palm tree" pole!

Did you know...

A deciduous tree stores its life giving sap in its roots during the cold winter months?

The best time to trim a deciduous tree is in the early spring just before it comes out of dormancy.

If the tree is trimmed too heavily while it is "awake" precious life giving sap is lost in the cut branches!

If it is trimmed in early fall, then the sap that would have been stored in its roots during the winter is lost to the trimmings!

Soak seeds 12-24 hours

Did you know...

Soaking seeds in water will speed up germination time?

Place your seeds in your hottest tap water to start and then let soak for 12 to 24 hours.

After soaking, go ahead and plant your seeds!

Most seeds can be soaked, but there are a few that shoud not be soaked. So check first before proceeding.

Palms do not have a tap root

Did you know...

That palm trees do not have a tap root?

Palm tree roots grow horizontally in the ground, instead of vertically.

In fact, their roots typically grow no deeper than three feet into the ground.

The roots grow out extremely fine, eventually forming a root ball.

The roots strentgh comes from bundling together to keep the tree firmly placed in the ground even through hurricane force winds!
